Welcome to the Youth Ambassador Program 2025-2026 Virtual Pride Kit!

This is a collection of digital resources to help provide context and inspiration for your volunteer commitment with the Youth Ambassador Program. These resources include fun activity guides, informative articles and media, and engaging first-person stories from 2SLGBTQ+ youth, which will help guide you on your advocacy journey.

How it works!

This virtual Pride Guide provides tools and tips for you as you begin your Youth Ambassador journey. We encourage you to read and review each of the following resources before diving into the Program to familiarize yourself with the material and learn about key concepts which you will share in your volunteer activities. The Activity Guides are detailed lesson plans to help you deliver a brief, fun and educational activity for your GSA or SOGI group, which are eligible for Volunteer Hours, as referenced in the Eligible Activities section of the Orientation package.

This video introduces our motivation for supporting and connecting with 2SLGTBQ+ youth across Canada and will inspire and motivate you as you begin your Youth Ambassador journey with IGBC.

This guide outlines how to deliver a colourful, engaging, and informative learning activity with your GSA or SOGI group on trans and gender expansive identities and correct pronoun usage.

This online library of youth-made zines contains resources on gender-affirming fashion for multiple gender expressions, self-care supports and tips for queer allyship. The link also contains tools for a fun activity for you and your GSA/SOGI group to create your own zines on a topic of your choosing, namely queer joy and advocacy.

This easy-to-follow resource educates students on the significance and meaning of major pride flags, plus guides you in leading a fun activity of creating your own art pieces using the flag designs.

This guide helps 2SLGBTQ+ and allied students to support their well-being through self-care during the busy back-to-school season and throughout the year.

Originally released during lockdown, this extensive guide contains tips and resources for dealing with a potentially unsupportive-family/community member, which helps build resilience and strengthen our self-respect.

This helpful guide provides context and tips for effective, engaging, multimedia communication + storytelling, which will help strengthen and refine your online + in-person advocacy efforts.

This article includes a first-person story of navigating queer advocacy while discovering your personal identity, and the ways those two things intertwine. This is a compassionate, generous perspective from a queer, Two-Spirit, Indigenous activist, and learning from this writer can be helpful to educate folks from outside those communities.

We would love for you all to download and experience our newly-launched app, GLO, a colourful, fun self-care app for 2SLGBTQ+ youth and their allies! GLO has been thoughtfully designed to support queer and allied youth’s wellbeing, helping them to navigate online spaces more safely and strengthen their self care habits, while having fun and taking care of their unique GLO pet.

This Q+A article is a great example of a youth-submitted “Dear Queer” question which is personal and informative but still appropriate to ask, with a helpful answer that compassionately educates the reader on queer identity and terminology. This is a great model/structure to follow when submitting your own thoughtful “Dear Queer” question as a volunteer activity for the Youth Ambassador Program.

FAQS

“How do the Activity Guides work?”

The activity guides are thoughtfully designed to instruct you on how to deliver a fun, engaging activity for a small group of other students/your GSA/SOGI groups. The activity guides we have shared contain all the information you need to share and engage with this resource with your group, and are an opportunity to gain leadership skills and grow in your advocacy journey.

While it is not mandatory to read/watch every single resource shared here, these are carefully curated for your own learning and will help prepare you for the volunteer activities within this program and on your extended advocacy journey.

Yes, please feel free! These resources are designed to be shared with as many people as possible to help share education and awareness on 2SLGBTQIA+ topics.

The Youth Ambassador Program runs for one school year. The final meeting will take place in early June.

We want to empower youth across Canada to create safer, more affirming communities, to use their voice and to participate in social change and community engagement.

We encourage all Youth Ambassadors to partner with allied adults and friends in your community for support, to stay in consistent communication with Ella and Sonny if you have any questions or feedback, and to get creative with your leadership and advocacy.
