About the day

The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia is observed annually on May 17th. This day was created to raise awareness and develop actionable goals to help combat the discrimination of 2SLGBTQ+ people. Our youth are experiencing an increased wave of regressive actions and harmful scrutiny around the world. Stepping up and working towards protecting, uplifting and empowering queer people must be done today and every day after.

Take the pledge

Support our network of 2SLGBTQ+ youth, passionate storytellers, advocates and allies as we collectively work to secure a better future for all – where no one is discriminated against, no matter their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Why celebrating queer stories matter

Listening to queer voices and stories is the best way to learn how you can directly support and help queer people. Stories about the importance of queer spaces, living in small towns, or the importance of community, shine a light on the aspects and issues that are not spoken about enough. It’s crucial to allow queer people to tell their own stories in their way.

Advocate for these voices and begin sharing these stories on your channels today!

How to move forward with progress

Progress begins with daily actions. Something as simple as raising a pride flag can be life-saving. Support queer voices, queer media, and queer people. Be vocal and proud of your support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community and respond to calls of action when they arise. There is no set way to move forward but listening, helping and taking action will always help progress move forward.
