Who Are Our Workshops For?
Our workshops are specifically tailored for 2SLGBTQ+ youth grades 9-12 who are looking to embrace their identity, overcome challenges, and build a thriving future. Whether you identify as 2SLGBTQ+ or as an ally, we welcome you with open arms and ensure a safe, inclusive space to learn, create community, and grow.
Goals of Our Workshops:
It Gets Better Canada is proud to deliver “The Power Of Digital Storytelling,” our newest workshop for queer and allied youth. In this workshop, participants will explore the incredible potential of storytelling to create meaningful social change and learn best practices for advocating online. Our goal is to equip youth with the tools to be powerful storytellers and navigate online spaces safely and healthily.
During the workshop, we will examine the essential elements of building an impactful story, emphasizing the power of personal narratives in advocacy online. By showcasing powerful examples of 2SLGBTQ+ storytelling advocacy, participants will gain inspiration and insights into effective storytelling techniques.
We will engage in open discussions about the challenges and opportunities that online platforms present while giving participants the opportunity to put their knowledge to the test through a hands-on activity. Youth will be invited to map out a draft of a post where they share their personal story and advocate for something they deeply care about. This activity encourages youth to harness the power of digital storytelling to create real impact in their communities and beyond.
Lastly, as part of the workshop we will share a variety of resources offered by It Gets Better Canada. These resources are designed to foster a sense of community and support.
Together, we will navigate the complexities of online spaces, celebrate unique identities, and provide youth with the tools and resources to thrive.

During this workshop, we will explore the current landscape of bullying and its lasting impact. We will discuss key considerations, such as the various forms of bullying, the importance of self-care and coping strategies, and how we can be more supportive of ourselves and others. We will delve into what it means to be an ally and supporter, fostering a community where everyone feels valued and protected. To uplift and inspire youth, our facilitators will share personal stories of resilience, grit, and growth. These stories aim to showcase the power of embracing your identity, finding strength within, and building a supportive community. You will witness firsthand the transformative journeys of individuals who have faced adversity and emerged stronger, providing you with hope and encouragement.
We recognize that bullying can bring stress and emotional challenges, therefore, we will engage youth in a self-care coping activity designed to help them navigate these difficulties. Through interactive exercises and discussions, youth will learn practical techniques to manage stress, build resilience, and prioritize their well-being.
