It Gets Better Canada is proud to announce that we have been awarded over $1.5 million in funding from the Department of Women and Gender Equality (Government of Canada) to develop and sustain our support for 2SLGBTQI+ youth. 

This transformative funding comes in the form of two projects, both contributing toward our work to uplift, empower and connect queer youth across Canada: 

• Funding to increase our capacity, improve execution and governance to advance equality for 2SLGBTQI+ youth in Canada. This grant has allowed us to grow our organization, develop a Strategic Plan for 2024-2027, and to ensure our long-term capacity for supporting our youth beneficiaries. 
• Funding to combat anti-2SLGBTQI+ online hate and promote digital safety and literacy. Thanks to WAGE, we are creating a new app tailored for 2SLGBTQ+ youth’s needs, inspiring confidence, online safety, and tackling mental health challenges facing 2SLGBTQ+ youth – to be released in September 2025. 

During a time of increased threats and hate against our communities, this support from the Government of Canada is a vital lifeline that enables us to continue our mission with greater impact. It allows us to stand stronger against discrimination and misinformation, while fostering safer, more inclusive spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ youth to thrive on and offline.

We are deeply grateful to the Department of Women and Gender Equality for their commitment to advancing equality and supporting initiatives that make a tangible difference in the lives of queer youth across Canada.
